Why is this plum not purple?

Received this plum as fruit of the week (fyi, every Wednesday is a fruit day in my office).

It should be..purple rite?

I'm curious (plus bored), so I google "yellow plum".

Apparently yellow plum do exist! 

(Totally unimportant stuff, I know..LOL)
