I am so confused...

source: yourfriendstoo.wordpress.com

...about my life (well, who aren't?)

Specifically, it's more on the area of work and live.

Currently, I am staying and working in Singapore. Which I can say has its own pro and cons. Well, the thing is...after three years, it's getting harder to live here with all those rising costs. (And boring too with the exception on the shopping part.)

Okay, I do have the option to come back home to Jakarta. But, there are a few matters that kinda make me thinking:

1. No car - Erm, how am I supposed to move to-and-fro without a car? Public transport is a big capital NO-NO in Jakarta unless you want to find yourself MUGGED (especially when you show that you are chinese with capital C and small eyes and fair skin). Call me paranoid. I am just trying to be safe.

2. Hard-core religion - this matter is specifically concerning my family esp. my Mum. She loves attending this religious services not limited to Sunday churches (which is good, I'm not against it). But it's kinda worrying me if she wants to drag me along (My level of religious is not up there yet). You know sometimes people will say like "Oh, it's ok if you don't want to." when it turns out that they are not OK at all with it. Hmm.

3. No private room - Mum uses my room, Bro uses my parent's room, then..where should I sleep? Sharing room with Mum? What if I want to sing in the middle of the night (when I have insomnia or something). What if I want to have my sweet-me-time? Call me selfish, but I do need this moment. But I can't force my mum to open a new room for me rite? Egoistic daughter. (I know I ask too much).

4. No Hollywood movie - This is kinda trivial but seriously, how on earth do our country manage to ban hollywood movie in the cinema? I am so not paying to watch a nurse washing hair in a spooky manner (a.k.a. Suster Keramas).

5. Slow internet connection - Hmm I guess I can learn to live with that. Slow is better than none (not really, it's frustrating too).

Oh well, do I think too much? Gee. Should I just stay here? But then again. Arghh!

Don't talk about making other people happy when it's so difficult to make myself happy.
(Selfish girl talking here, don't bother about me. =P)

1st day of long weekend - Labour Day edition

First Saturday after the peak - it feels so good!!

So glad knowing my fave instructor came back to teach Body Combat. But the thing is, my legs hurt after that! The regime was hellish. Oh well, all for the sake of toned body! (rite?)

Finally tried the honeydew soya milk from mr bean (S$2.00). I like the watermelon taste better.
But overall, this is not bad.

Thanks goodness for a humble dinner @ Food Republic - Thai Sauce Fried Chicken Rice (S$5.00). I just spent my dime on cardigan (wha? shop again? control girl! exercise some control!).

But! But!

New Look is having sale and the cardigan looks so springy.

(There's no spring in Singapore. Duh!)

But still, it looks nice on me. LOL.

(wanted to post a pic on the cardigan but my camera makes the colour looks a bit off - so decided not to post it now).

Another Topshop hauls...^^

I know I know. I should have started saving up money since my income is significantly lower (thanks to that stupid CPF!).

But. But. I can't help it. Especially when they have special offer (double points on your F3 card when you shop during this labour-day weekend).

I. am. a. sucker. for. this. thing.

Lurex ankle socks.

Duo Eyeshadow in Meteoric (Sandstorm collection).

Swatches when applied dry.

Ok I just noticed that the eyeshadow can be applied wet. Hmm, not sure how's that gonna work but I'll try it in the future. Haha.

I love my hauls. =)

What a mess! And it's not a beautiful one.

Not particularly happy about today.

I just found out that I totally forgot about one deliverable to client for last quarter

And the worse part is...apparently my manager forgot it too. Cool rite?

And how did I suddenly remember about it? Uhm no. The client is actually the one who realize about this. ("Hey, where's my money?" - I bet they ask that.)

Shoot, man. I could not really say that I completely forgot about it, rite. So I have to bluff a bit about it which did not really go well (although it kinda creates a diversion for me so my boss won't burn my ass straight on the spot).

Geez. What a blow. I submitted the work again for boss' review but judging from how she completely forgot about it last quarter. It may take time. Wait, it WILL take time. Geez, and she did nothing to stall the client. I mean, come on! (Should I stall them tomorrow? Which means..bluff them?)

Damn. Triple damn.

To make things more demoralising (what? it can get more demoralising?), I saw a big drop in my salary (No, not due to my silly mistake OK?).

It's due to the bloody CPF. How am I supposed to make a living like this? Wait, let me rephrase that.

"How am I supposed to go on living here without shopping?"

Oh okay, I think I have enough complaining here.

Tomorrow will be better. I hope. I wish.

Comfort food at rainy weather

Thanks goodness I don't have to work late today. Working in such a stuffy environment (aircon dies every 6 pm) is totally unappealing.

As usual, I'm confused of what to eat for dinner. Since the weather is a bit cool, I decided to eat something soupy.

Ended up buying mee sua (S$3.80) from the Taiwan's stall. =P

Looks a bit like mee siam from here.

Apparently the stall was called "Snackz It!".

And I ate it with Chitato. Yummmilicioussss! ^^

A short trip to Batam - Part 3

After we were done with our hearty A&W meal. We decided that it's time to say bye-bye to Nagoya and made our way to Mega Mall Batam Centre.

And guess what, we did what we exactly do best. KARAOKE. Surprisingly, the karaoke place has a quite good collection of songs especially for Indo songs (yeah, C turns hysterical obviously knowing this fact).

And as usual, after singing for 2 hours, we get hungry again. Off we go to Kampung Timbel.

S had Ayam Bakar Timbel.

I know I know you may be thinking "Why on earth did you decide to have fried rice at Timbel stall?". I love my fried rice OK? (especially when it has a nice fried egg and satay included).

And we still ordered Satay Ayam. LOL.

C's order consisted of Lele Bakar Timbel. I never get the hang of eating Lele after knowing that the fish eat shit for living. T_T.

My haul from Batam Hypermart. LOL.

(munching Chitato..kriuk..kriuk..)

Nice short trip! =)

A short trip to Batam - Part 2

After a what seems to be a long wait, Eska finally opens up the door. S and I decided to have a manicure (Believe it or not, this is my first time! >.<!)

I'm so glad to know that Eska use Orly nail polish. I choose a purplish red colour. Hmm the picture didn't really do justice to the colour I don't know why. LOL.

C finished her back-massage at the same time with us. After done pampering ourselves, we made our way to...A&W! Yay!

See that root beer float? Yum Yum Yum!

My favourite curly fries. Oh gosh, they are the best!

And of course, can't left A&W without trying its waffle sundae.

A&W should really consider opening up their flagship stores again in SG. Seriously!

A short trip to Batam - Part 1

I could not believe that I have to wake up at 5.15 to take the first ferry out from Singapore to Batam.

Apparently, there are a lot of people taking MRT at that hour. Zzzz.

And guess what, we arrived too early and most of the things are still closed. Lazy town! Tips: Don't take the first ferry next time. The 9.40 ferry should be just nice since there is one-hour time difference between Singapore and Batam.

And the taxi driver cheated us by saying Nagoya Hill has opened at 9.00 am.

Don't feel like getting around aimlessly, so we chose to wait until Eska opens at 10.00 am. Fyi, Eska is a place where you can have your massage, aromatherapy, manicure and pedicure. Apparently the store is quite famous with Singaporean. Hmm.

See, not a single soul sighted at Nagoya Hill.

After checking out the surroundings around Nagoya Hill, we noticed a small bakery stall called Morning Bakery (which supposed to exist in Jakarta too, although I never notice one near my place).

I feel like having cake in the morning. HeeHeeHee.

C had to order Lontong Sayur due to her mistake. =P

Anyway, we helped her finish it off. Taste so-so I guess. But it's damn cheap since it's in Rupiah.

Future bedroom decor..^^

I just saw this cool door from K-drama called My Princess. It's the bedroom door in Mr. Handsome's apartment who kinda looks like Wu Zhun (Google him: His name is actually Song Seun Hun..hello, handsome! =P)

I am already hooked by the way they paint this door. So european and I love everything that scream "Europe!"

And....guess what!

It can revolve! And on the other side of the door is a mirror! A big one! Oh my gosh!

You see, you can even flip the door so fast in an emergency situation (just like how you see the silhouette of someone barging through the door i.e. Kim Tae Hee's running to the loo). Heeheehee.

Why all the setting of K-drama are so...damn cool?

Trying the new Thai food place...^^

I have to work on Saturday!!! (loud wailing)

Oh well, it's sad to work during peak period. T_T.

Anyway, since I have dinner appointment with S today around 6, I could not have heavy lunch so I only have these two pastries for lunch.
Chocolate croissant and butter croissant from Swissbake. Yummy.

I asked her to try the new Thai joint at Wisma Atria called Coffee Stars by Dao. It just recently opens and so the service is kinda all over the place.

Luckily we are quite patience today.
I ordered Fried Noodle Shrimp & Crab (S$12.80). I chose to have it with crispy noodle but apparently they could not serve this dish with crispy noodle and they straight away threw in kway teow instead. Oh well, I'm super hungry so it does not really matter to me anyway.

S can't eat seafood other than fish due to her wrist problem which I don't really know how to explain. I think I can go wild if I'm told that I have to ditch shrimp, squid, crab...(drool). So S decided to have Fried Noodle XO Chicken (S$10.80). Quite nice but I think it will be nicer with Shrimp...heeheehee.

This Garlic & Cheese Pita Bread (S$4.80) is supposed to be our appetizer but due to the un-organized service, it came after our main dish! Oh well. Taste crispy though. So all is forgiven. LOL.

Always have room for dessert! We wanted to order Green Tea Layer Cake with Chocolate Sauce but it was not available. Sad.

So we ordered Cappuccino Cake (S$6.50) instead. The red ball-thingy turns out to be white chocolate. But it's totally not edible! Taste weird. The cake is okay though.

Nice ending to our Saturday. =D

Crazy walk @ MBS - ended up at Kraze Burger

Due to "unforeseen-circumstances" with mr. Fat and a spontaneous decision, I ended up accompanying C walking around Marina Bay Sands. Heck??

Could not help to snatch a pic of this big wedges! I wonder whether they sell it in human size. Anyway I don't think I can afford that if they do. It's by Salvatore Ferragamo. I can only afford their fragrance.

T____________T

The "unforeseen circumstance" made C a very pissed man (I'm kinda confused to refer to you as a lady, C. You are too masculine! LOL).

The pissed man wanted to drink beer! How come our plan to eat at the food court took a turn and we ended up having our dinner at Kraze Burger. It's near the ice-skating rink. Don't ask me how to go there. I don't know. I just simply found it. I guess you'll find it when you walk around MBS pretty easily.

I don't want beer belly so I drank water. Healthy rite? (OK, OK, I'm cheapo. Beer is expensive!)

Chili Fries. Not that nice. Somemore, it's S$8.00!

I ordered the K.B. Original Burger (S$11.00). The patty is damn tasty. Yummy.

To add a healthy effect, I changed the bun to wheat. But I guess, the usual white bun tastes nicer.

And I have to walk back home via Raffles Place again. Heck???

Friday's delicacies...

Another last day of the working days....yippie!

I have to spend it at my client's place. Despite the cold AC (it's freezing I tell you!), I don't really mind working there. At least, I don't have to deal with "arrows" from my bosses. =P

Y had a sudden conf-call with her Australian client. So we move our lunch date to Monday. I have to eat alone today. This means - lunch at Golden Shoes!

Always wondering why this claypot stall always have a long queue. Finally had the chance to try it. Nothing really spectacular about it. Anyway it's only S$4.00.

Feel so hot after eating that claypot. So I threw my detox plan out of the window and buy a glass of bubble tea! Tried out the bubble tea stall at the Arcade - Taiwan Mao Kong. The pearl green tea tastes okay (S$2.10).

C told me that she does not want to have dinner today with me but as usual, plans are made to be broken? We have a HEAVY dinner at Ayam Penyet Ria. It's been a while since the last time I had this. Super spicy!!!  (S$6.90 before GST)

I love kerupuk!!! =D =D =D

We dropped by Orchard Central to see that Via Ferrata and surprisingly, the mall has a lot of places to..to...

EMBRACE YOUR NARCISISM

a.k.a.

TAKING PICTURES

Lucky C has changed her phone so we can take pic using her Nokia which has 8 MP camera...heeheehee.

Why is this plum not purple?

Received this plum as fruit of the week (fyi, every Wednesday is a fruit day in my office).

It should be..purple rite?

I'm curious (plus bored), so I google "yellow plum".

Apparently yellow plum do exist!

(Totally unimportant stuff, I know..LOL)

"You may not know what you want

....but you must know what you DON'T want in life" (Paulo Coelho)

I am having a bad day. Well, the bad part literally just happened at the very end of the office hours (yeah, thanks a lot to you HSBC lady! Bah!).

I made a silly mistake. AGAIN. FOR THE SAME CLIENT. Heck???

O_o O_o O_o

.............

I was so pissed with myself so I decided to...go home. =P

Brain was too jumbled to work that thing out anyway. Haizz. I'll deal with it tomorrow morning when brain had spent hours taking rest.

My HK client cannot send me the complete documents in one go. I have to give him a call like..3 times?? This deserved another "Heck???" comment.

My boss asked me to raise feedback from another boss. Can I ask why? Or maybe the right question is, do I need to know why? Oh heck. As long as I can get decent bonus, I'll do it OK?

Well, I've been blabbering about things which totally unrelated to my title (off-topic like usual).

Anyway, to conclude this post. Let me list down what I DON'T want in life:

1. Poverty
2. Bastard boyfriend/ husband
3. Unwanted pregnancy
4. Fat body

Hmm these sounds a bit vain. But it's true rite? =P

Don don don don...

Nah, I am not eating donburi (hmm, now I kinda feel like eating one! T_T)

It was raining cats and dogs again and its timing is just cannot get worse. Raining at the end of working time. I nearly cancelled my plan to buy Don pie if Y didn't want to buy one too.

The price has increased again (inflation??). Everything seems to increase except for my pay. Sad.

The black pepper chicken pie cost me S$5.80.

Off topic, I am getting bored easily lately. I wonder what useful thing should I spend my time on after work. I won't have this problem if I go to gym but I am not a gym-freak who like to go to gym every single day.

Hmm...

Have dinner with friend?
Read a book?
Learning mandarin?
or...
just apply the art of doing nothing? (which totally contradict the plan to find a useful thing to do).

Well, maybe this is just some phase in my daily life. I mean, people do get bored from their routine activities rite?

Total ignorant of the radioactive thing

The last time I chatted with my Mum on MSN, she mentioned that she will steer clear from Jap-restaurant at least for the moment. Well considering the "lack-ness" of Indonesian food authority, I perfectly agree with her reasoning.

Today, I completely don't care about the threat of the radioactive matter and headed to Sushi Tei. Well, AVA should be better in handling those matter rite? Rite? Rite?

Is C having a diet or what? She only had the potato salad and 2 choices of sushis. Totally not good to eat lunch with people who has diet. Make you guilty. LOL.

And she totally left out the lettuce underneath the potato salad. Eat your greens, C!!

I had a craving for fried rice for a while. And I love this crab fried rice. C said their Zuwai Crab Fried Rice is even better. I'll try that next time.

The weather in Singapore is kinda unpredictable lately. It's damn hot for a few hours and the next thing you know, it's raining cats and dogs. T_T.

Luckily, we were completely under-covered inside Kbox singing our lungs out. =P

Her 1 week, My 1.5 years.

Last Friday, I had the chance to catch up a bit with S (yeah, her mum is in town, so she's kinda ditching me a LOT).

It's her only first week at her new place and oh boy, she already has a lot of things to rant about. LOL.

Anyway, when I think about it, I have spent 1.5 years in my current workplace. Time sure flies!

We ran out of places to eat dinner so I suggest to try Ricciotti @ the Riverwalk.

Pollo Fritto @ S$11.80

Personally, I think the appetizer above is over-priced. Few bits of chicken strips at the price of S$11.80. It kinda tastes like chicken nugget. T_T.

Carnivora @ S$25.50

The pizza was like...SUPER BIG. S can't take seafood at the moment so she chose this. Taste quite nice (especially when eaten with chili sauce).

Strudel @ S$7.80

Is this apple strudel healthier compared to the chocolate-based dessert? Probably not. I should have ordered my usual Soffiato. Taste so-so.

Tiramisu @ S$7.80

S still prefer the tiramisu at Trattoria. Hmm, I am not sure which one nicer since I am a HUGE fan of tiramisu. All  Most tiramisu-s taste nice to me. =P

The ambience at the place is nice. And I saw most of the other tables ordered wine so I guess the wines are nice? Too bad I am not really a wine-drinker.

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

Let's have fun? More like let's sweat.

The day that I dreaded has come. It's a company's sport day! Blarghh.

Okay, our team nearly drop out because we lost three team members. But, to my utmost dismay, they got replaced quite easily. T_T.

And thus, I have to play this stupid Captain's Ball thingy. The other option is badminton. And I'm sucks at that too.

I thought we're gonna play it indoor but NO, Nothing is ever easy for me! We have to play under the scorching sun and guess what, I forget to apply sunblock on my face.

Sucks. T_T.

And we have to compete against guy. I stepped over someone's feet so many times. There's one quite bad so that I kinda apologize over it. And you know what? That bitc mean girl, didn't even wince. I should have stepped on her face instead. Or on her skinny stomach. Or anywhere else.

And thanks to the evil thought above, I fell on my knee and managed to scar some skin on my left knee. Can I get a MC for this scratch?

Hikz...my poor knee. Sob. Sob.

Okay, I think I have enough complaint for today. Apart from that horrendous and physically challenging Captain's Ball, the bowling was OK (simply throw), and the badminton obviously great (since I only have to cheer the others). Yeah, they still lost despite my wonderful cheering. Bah!

Off topic, I got a new umbrella.

I was torn between yellow and pink. But at the end, I kinda got both? ^^

I have to make sure that I won't leave this umbrella inside a cab ever again!

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

Buh-bye my green umbrella...

I left my umbrella in the cab..T_T

I know it's already old. It's not even functioning properly. And yeah, it's dirty. But I still feel shitty when I realised I left it in the cab (cheapo?).

Oh well, no point crying over spoilt milk (or in this case, spoilt umbrella).

Maybe I should buy the new one in yellow, like this:
So Mr Mosby can easily find me and marry me off. (i.e. Ted Mosby, the architect from HIMYM).

Raining + Stuck at ulu client's place =

FRUSTRATION!!!

No kidding. When the weather is good, the cab just queue up in front of my client's building (i.e. somewhere at AMK). Okay, AMK is not that ulu actually but still...

(fyi, "ulu" means kinda-out-of-nowhere)

But it is raining so hard today and guess what. NO CAB IN SIGHT! AT ALL!

I tried to call that bloody City Cab and as expected, all the lines are busy.

I was contemplating whether I should walk to the nearest bus stop but then again, it was not a wise option when you need to carry two bags and a laptop bag.

Thanks goodness! Suddenly I saw a lady managed to flag a cab and few cabs were following behind.

Without further ado, I dashed. Crossed the road. And managed to get myself a cab. Phew.

You know what, I think I will need to bring this thing tomorrow.

Cute teru-teru-bozu! ^^

New mouse!

It's time to say bye-bye to my 3-years old Logitech mouse...(I thought they are supposed to live longer than that but anyway).

I was so determined to buy a colourful one this time. I had the white, the black, the grey and I'm bored.

So this time, I got the pink one. ^^

After buying the mouse, it's time to look for dinner option and as usual, I ran out of ideas.

I just bought a set meal of mogu-mogu and chicken teriyaki bread from Bread Talk (S$3.80).

Honestly, don't ever buy this Mogu Mogu. It tastes damn weird.

The bread was kinda soggy but at least, it was edible.

I'll buy a better dinner tomorrow. For the sake of healthy life. LOL.
